Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Tom directs all business and legal affairs for 42West, one of the largest independent public relations agencies in the entertainment industry. Having spent more than 20 years in the public relations industry, Tom brings a unique blend of business operations, corporate finance, and marketing communications experience to his role at the firm. Prior to 42West, Tom served as CEO and managing partner of Solebury Communications Group, a strategic consultancy offering financial and corporate communication counsel to senior management within a broad spectrum of public and private multinationals. He has also held senior management and corporate practice leadership positions at global agencies Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, Text 100 International, Hill & Knowlton, and GCI Group.
As a corporate communicator and advisor, Tom has worked with respected market leaders such as HP, Deloitte, Citibank, Intel, Chase Bank, Slim-Fast, Cigna, LexisNexus, Payless Shoes, Capgemini and Merck to align communications with business strategy, manage change, protect and enhance reputation, and build brand equity.
In recent years, Tom has focused on organizational development and leadership, working within agencies to improve performance, productivity and effectiveness, and gain strategic advantage—most notably leading a turnaround of Hill & Knowlton’s troubled New York office.
Having started his professional career as an equity analyst, Tom holds a B.A. in Economics from Syracuse University; M.S. in Organizational Leadership and Human Resources Management from Colorado State University; and pursued post-graduate studies at the Harvard Business School (Leading Professional Services Program) and Cornell University (labor relations communications).
